Tony Mowbray says Blackburn Rovers are talking to 'a lot' of clubs in the Premier League over making loan signings this summer but believes the extended pre-season in the top flight is why acquisitions are taking time.
The Championship season kicks off next weekend for Rovers as Mowbray's side host Swansea City at Ewood Park.
So far, the only fresh face in the Rovers squad is that of Harry Pickering, the left-back who was bought in January by the Ewood Park club.

Despite being acquired in January, Pickering spent the second half of last season out on loan back at Crewe Alexandra, where he came through the youth teams ranks, to pick up more first team experience.
Rovers are still on the lookout for new signings to the squad, with loan acquisitions appearing to be the most likely.
Speaking after yesterday's 2-2 draw against Bolton Wanderers, Mowbray said that Rovers are talking to many top flight clubs over bringing in players on loan.
But with both the Premier League season kicking off a week later than the EFL, combined with competitions such as Euro 2020 and the Copa America taking place, players which Blackburn have their eye on have not been available to speak to.
But Mowbray believes that situation could change shortly when their prospective target return.

Mowbray said: “Harvey Elliott brought that to an extent last year with his individuality and range of passing, they’re not easy to find, you can’t just pluck them out of the air.
“We’re talking to a lot of Premier League clubs, with where we are we’re going to have to loan, but they start a week after us so are going through their pre-season fixtures now and using all their players.
“A lot of the big clubs, their players have been away at the Euros or the Copa America and they’re not back so they’re using their younger players and when that changes I’m sure the players we’ve identified and spoken to these clubs about might come available.”
