Tommy Fury will have his first boxing fight in America against a top MMA fighter as part of the undercard for Jake Paul's upcoming bout with Tyron Woodley on August 29.

The Love Islandstar, whose brother is world heavyweight champion Tyson, will face California-born Anthony Taylor, who is one of Paul's main sparring partners, in a six-round contest.

Mirror Fighting exclusively broke the news that Fury would be taking on an MMA fighter on the undercard of the massive fight night in Cleveland later this month.

Taylor is 0-1 as a professional boxer, but is 7-5 in the world of MMA with wins in major promotions including Bellator and Comabte Americas as well as victories over UFC fighters Dean Barry and Chris Avila on his current five-fight win streak.

His sole boxing fight took place in 2017, losing a controversial split decision to Donte Stubbs, and he last stepped into the MMA cage in January 2020, defeating ex-UFC fighter Avila at Bellator 238.

Fury is 6-0 in the boxing ring, having recently defeated the unbeaten Jordan Grant on the undercard of a Frank Warren show in Telford.

Mirror Fighting understands that he has signed a two-fight deal with Showtime in the United States, with the intention being for the broadcaster to eventually make a fight between him and Paul.

Fury said: "It is unbelievable to get the chance to go over to the USA to fight and put on a show. I am grateful for the opportunity and I am definitely going to leave my mark on the American fans.

"American fans can, as always with me, expect a big dirty knockout. That is what I say and that is what I try to bring. I want to put on a masterclass performance and show levels again and show how much I am improving.

"It is another step on my journey to world titles."

Fury will be joined by fellow Brit Daniel Dubois on the undercard, who faces American Joe Cusumano in a defence of his interim world title.

The reality TV star preserved his unbeaten record against Grant last month and was rarely troubled as he won every round on the referee's scorecard.

But he was unable to add to his KO highlight reel against Grant who was fighting for just the third time in the paid ranks.

He rose to fame on Love Island, where he met girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, which catapulted him to bigger fights in his professional boxing career.

Paul and Fury have gone back-and-forth on social media and in the press over the last few months, with the Youtuber eventually telling his rival that he would need to achieve a few goals before they could fight.

One was facing a professional with a winning record, which he ticked off against Grant, and another was participating in a pay-per-view, which he will do on this event

Taylor is known for his social media trolling of top MMA fighters and boxers, as well as his high profile bouts with the likes of Barry and SBG Ireland fighter James Gallagher.

He first linked up with the Paul camp ahead of the YouTube star's bout with Ben Askren in April, after a social media callout was picked up on by head coach BJ Flores.

And he impressed in the four rounds they did together in the gym, being asked to become a main sparring partner when the YouTube star moved his camp to Puerto Rico for the Woodley fight.

Fury will likely be without his father John in his corner for the first time in his pro career as he is unable to enter the United States due to a visa issue.
