Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague say they have been left ‘heartbroken’ after their puppy died.

The former Love Island stars only announced they bought the Pomeranian, named Mr Chai, last week.

Molly-Mae, 21, says the dog, which was imported from Russia and is believed to be around four months old, suddenly fell ill and died.

She informed her Instagram followers about her sad news, which came just three days after the pair posted a sweet snap of them out on a family picnic.

She wrote: “Tommy and I are utterly heartbroken and shocked to even be writing this.

"Our beautiful new puppy Mr Chai was taken ill in the last few days and tragically has passed away.

"Chai became our whole world in the short time we had him and we couldn't have taken any better care of him. We loved him so much and he brought us more happiness than we can describe."

Tommy bought his girlfriend the pup for her 21st birthday and they came under fire from fans for importing the puppy from Russia during the coronavirus pandemic.

Molly-Mae added: "We are really hoping that we can get some clearer answers in the coming days while we wait for details and more information from the veterinary experts.”

The social media influencer and her boxing fella have posted multiple photos of themselves with the puppy and looked completely smitten with him.

Molly-Mae added: "Myself and Tommy are completely in shock and truly devastated. In a world currently full of tragedy and loss, we understand there are far far greater issues than this, we just need to share this information in order to start the process of trying to accept and overcome this awful situation.

"We are asking for some time and respect so that we can come to terms with this immense sadness and loss of our beautiful puppy."

At the time they announced they were getting a puppy, fans questioned why it took the dog so long to arrive after Molly-Mae posted on Instagram about it.

She wrote: "Sat waiting for you, little monster. An hour before I become a dog mum.

"Has anyone ever received a puppy at night? What are you meant to do? Put them to bed or stay up with them??!

"Honestly, this is going to be so entertaining."

But she then added: "He was meant to be here on my birthday btw guys but he's coming from Russia so there was a delay etc..."

One said: "Can't believe molly mae got a puppy shipped from russia when there are hundreds of dogs in rescue centres waiting to be adopted..... bad form man.”

Another commented: "Was excited to see what pup Molly Mae was getting until she said it was being shipped over from Russia... In the middle of a pandemic."
