Thomas Wells dead at 46 – Former X Factor star dies in ‘work accident at tire manufacturing plant in Oklahoma’

FORMER X-Factor star Thomas Wells has died aged 46, his devastated family has announced.

Thomas' shock death came earlier this month following an accident while working at his job at a tire manufacturing plant in Oklahoma, his wife of 17-years, Jessica, told TMZ.

According to the outlet, part of his body got caught in a conveyor belt-like machine that did not stop.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Idabel, before being airlifted to a larger hospital in Tyler, Texas, where he died on November 13.

The exact nature of his injuries is unclear.

Thomas appeared on X-Factor in 2011, but also showed up in a number of other TV talent competitions, including The Voice and America's Got Talent.

The performer is said to have gotten his start into music at an early age, as he taught himself to play various instruments by ear.

He was also in choir at his church and at his school in Oklahoma.

Jessica remembers her husband as a "unique person" who "always had a smile on his face."

This is not the only death that the singing competition has seen this year as back in September former contestant Freddie Combs tragically passed away at the age of 49.

Freddie's wife, Kay, revealed he had die due to kidney failure and his death was not caused by Covid.

She shared that she knew the day before his death that he was about to die but was happy to have gotten that last day with him.

"I have so much gratitude to be his wife for 25 years and to be his best friend,” Kay added.

Prior to his time on the X-Factor, Freddie had a near-death experience due to obesity, as he weighed 920 pounds at that time.

The minister said on the reality show that he loved singing as part of his job but was on disability due to his health issues and no longer had his minister role.
