This Morning viewers think Holly and Phil have been tricked as callers say they’re afraid of bananas and belly buttons

THIS Morning fans slammed what they think is "an absolute p**s take" as viewers call into the show with their unique phobias.

Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby held a segment with well-known therapists, Nik and Eva Speakman.

The married couple were helping people overcome their phobias after showing a clip of them helping a mum with a fear of snakes.

The first caller was Ethlyn from London who called for help with her fear of bananas.

Before getting stuck into their advice, Phil revealed they had at least two other people call in with the same phobia.

Ethlyn revealed her fear of bananas was so strong she "can't even go down the aisle where they are in the supermarket".

"It started when me and mum were in supermarket and she went to get them and jumped back," Ethlyn revealed.

The Speakmans asked, "what did the banana do in that moment" to scare her, to which Ethlyn replied, "I became terrified because of her [mum's] reaction".

The therapists told Ethlyn she had "transferred that" incident to the bananas and that's why she became afraid of them.

Another caller admitted her phobia of belly buttons, which the Speakmans figured came after she saw her sister's umbilical cord as a child and it freaked her out.

The couple told her that because she has a good relationship with her sister that she should try to associate her belly button with something positive.

The final caller admitted filling forms gave her anxiety, with many This Morning viewers saying the "bloody phobia phone ins are ridiculous".

One Twitter user wrote: "Comic relief day already?"

Another wrote: "I felt like death this morning but this has really cheered me up. Thanks for the laughs, even if it wasn’t meant to be funny."

And a third said: "It's not April 1st is it?"

Phobias are a type of anxiety disorder which leaves a person with "an overwhelming and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, feeling or animal".

According to the NHS: "Phobias are more pronounced than fears. They develop when a person has an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object.

"If a phobia becomes very severe, a person may organise their life around avoiding the thing that's causing them anxiety. As well as restricting their day-to-day life, it can also cause a lot of distress."
