Eamonn Holmes came under fire from some ITV This Morning viewers after asking a question about asthma.

Hosts Ruth Langsford and husband Eamonn will be presenting This Morning for the next two weeks while Holly and Phil take their regular break over half term.

Since 2006, the married couple have presented the show together on Fridays and often take over hosting duties in the school holidays.

In a segment today, the effects of asthma and the impact of pollution on sufferers was discussed by the presenters alongside a doctor.

Eamonn asked if pollution can have an effect on asthma, much to the surprise of viewers.

According to Asthma UK, pollution can quickly irritate people's airways and trigger asthma symptoms. Some pollution particles are small enough to get into the lungs.

Air pollution is a possible risk factor for everyone who has asthma, something many viewers seem to think was obvious.

This Morning fans were quick to take to social media to share their thoughts.

On Twitter, Fi said: "Did Eamonn really just ask if pollution affects asthma."
