This Morning viewers claimed Alison Hammond was 'told off' by guest Dr Scott during today's episode.
The vet was on the ITV programme alongside Alison and her co-host Dermot O'Leary for a call-in.
Viewers were invited to get in touch with the show to put their pet dilemmas to Dr Scott.
During the phone-in, a woman named Jayne called in to get advice to help her three-year-old dog, who was suffering from a phantom pregnancy.
Jayne said the Cavapoo was "very sad" and "crying" around the home.
But Jayne brushed over an interruption when Dr Scott turned to Alison and said: "Don't laugh, it's not funny," while she could be heard laughing quietly in the background.
Alison quickly apologised and added: "Oh my gosh, I didn't even know that would happen."
Scott carried on nodding as he listed to Jayne's concerns.
When she had finished, Dermot asked Scott if he could explain what a phantom pregnancy is.
Dr Scott then turned and gestured towards Alison and said: "It's a real condition," before laughing himself.
Alison insisted she had never heard of one before.
But many This Morning viewers were not happy about the segment.
"#ThisMorning I was a bit upset by the pet segment. I love Alison but she should have been told that pet problems are nothing to laugh at and you don’t just “get another one” if something is wrong with your pet.
"My Alice is my furry daughter and is part of our family," tweeted one.
Another said: "Glad the nice Vet doc told Alison off. She was being disrespectful. I really don't think she should be getting a dog. If she does, she really needs to do an awful lot more research as she doesn't seem to know much about animals. #ThisMorning @thismorning."
"Bad show @AlisonHammond laughing at a poor dog who is suffering from phantom pregnancies #ThisMorning," a third added.
A fourth noted: "#thismorning @AlisonHammond putting her foot in it regarding a dog’s phantom pregnancy and being told off by the vet."
"Glad the vet told Alison off then, giggling like a child at a dog having a phantom pregnancy- which can be distressing. #thismorning," a viewer added.
