This Morning backlash as viewers vow to switch off over Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary replacing Ruth and Eamonn

THIS Morning viewers have vowed to boycott the show over Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary replacing Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

Ruth and Eamonn, who have presented the ITV show for 14 years, were replaced following a major shake-up - leaving fans furious.

Instead, the married pair will be replaced by Alison and Dermot on Fridays.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, it was confirmed: "We are pleased to announce that Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are set to join the This Morning family as regular hosts.

"The dynamic duo will share hosting duties with Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes OBE and Ruth Langsford from January 2021."

One wrote: "Don’t push Eamonn and Ruth out is all I ask as I shan’t be watching if you do. They are real!"

A second said: "Won't watch on Friday if Ruth & Eamonn aren't there."

A third added: "Will miss Eamon and Ruth! They are the best. I guess won’t be watching."

A fourth pleaded: "Stick with Eamonn and Ruth please. They’re brilliant."

Meanwhile, others couldn't wait for Alison and Dermot to start.

One exclaimed: "What a pair!!! Looking forward to their shenanigans."

Another said: "Oh yay this is such amazing news."

Following the news, Eamonn and Ruth, both 60, wished the new hosts good luck in an emotional tweet.

They said: "It's a changing of the guard on Fridays from January. We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!

"It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term."

It was revealed in November that the long-standing TV couple were being replaced with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on the daytime show after 14 years.

In an interview with New magazine the previous week, Ruth insisted she didn't know anything about a line-up change on This Morning - and that she wasn't worried about losing her job.

When asked if the show was headed for a shake-up, Ruth told the publication: "There's always talk, I don't know. Not that anybody's told me."

Meanwhile, Eamonn recently liked and replied to a tweet which claimed the TV business can be "so cruel".

The tweet from journalist and Royal expert Kinsey Schofield read: "I really enjoy you and your wife.

"This business can be so cruel. I will continue to support you and whatever you decide to do next. Congratulations on so many brilliant years executing the job wonderfully."

This Morning's Dermot O'Leary says he 'doesn't want to step on anyone's toes' as it's revealed he'll replace Eamonn Holmes
