Parc Tawe Retail Park is one of the most popular places people like to park when visiting Swansea city centre.

Whether it's for a shopping trip, to go and see the latest blockbuster film, go for a game of bowling or for a bite to eat, it is used frequently.

The main advantage, of course, is that it's free to park, and over the years many have looked to take advantage of that to its fullest across the two different car parks divided by the Parc Tawe link road.

The north car park, which is located near the likes of Lidl, Xercise for Less and JD Sports, is managed by Premier Park.

Meanwhile, the car park known as 'Parc Tawe Retail Park', located at the opposite end, near the likes of Denny's and Odeon, is managed by Hammerson.

Both have different rules on how long you can park, and through the years, many have been uncertain whether that means you can make the most of the time limit in one of them, before moving your car over to the next and essentially restarting the clock.

And it appears that may be the case.

And there's a maximum stay of three hours at Parc Tawe North car park

We asked Premier Park and Hammerson for clarity regarding the rules of parking at the retail park, and they confirmed that both car parks are run as separate affairs.

A Premier Park spokesman said: "Premier Park are engaged on Parc Tawe North to ensure spaces are able to be used by genuine customers. There is currently a maximum stay period of three hours, with no return allowed within two hours, to allow a turnover of spaces.

"Unfortunately we are unable to comment on other locations but would advise motorists to check for, and read any signs at the location they may park at."

Hammerson added the adjacent car park was not under the same ownership.

A Hammerson spokeswoman said: "I t is important to us that our retail destinations make the shopping and leisure experience as welcoming as possible for all our customers, and part of that is ensuring parking is fair and accessible for all visitors.

"In line with parking across the city, Parc Tawe Retail Park car park observes a four-hour free parking period and after that period customers pay for parking."
