Voters in Stockport have gone to the ballot box for the 2021 local elections.

Council seats were up for grabs in wards including Bramhall North, Bramhall South and Woodford, Bredbury and Woodley, Bredbury Green and Romiley, Brinnington and Central, Cheadle and Gatley, Cheadle Hulme North, Cheadle Hulme South, Davenport and Cale Green, Edgeley and Cheadle Heath, Hazel Grove, Heald Green, Heatons North, Heatons South, Manor, Marple North, Marple South and High Lane, Offerton, Reddish North, Reddish South and Stepping Hill.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday May 7 with the count expected to take place overnight on Thursday.

Results are expected for the Stockport local election from around 6am. You can see the full results as they are declared below.

It is the first time local elections have taken place in two years after last year's ballot was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As well as electing local councillors, voters have also been going to the polls to elect the Greater Manchester mayor. Results are expected from this election on Saturday.
