THE Sister viewers are 'sleeping with the light on' after 'terrifying' ghost scenes in the ITV drama premiere.
The new spooky ITV drama started last night and saw Russell Tovey play Nathan, who is surprised by Bob, an unwelcome face from his past one rainy evening.
Nathan has never been able to forget the worst night of his life: a party that led to the sudden, shocking death of a young woman, Elisa.
Only he and Bob (Bertie Carvel), an eccentric old acquaintance, know what really happened… and they’ve resolved to keep it that way.
Viewers were gripped by the drama, but many were shocked at how scary it was as Bob claimed Elisa's ghost was haunting him.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Eerily gripping stuff #TheSister can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode.. but also I might sleep with the light on! @russelltovey
effortless acting as always!"
Another tweeted: "Well I thought #TheSister was gonna be a classic little @ITV crime drama... 1 hour later I can’t sleep because I’m scared of the ghosties."
A third added: "Might have to sleep with the light on now #TheSister."
Meanwhile a fourth agreed, writing: "How am I gonna sleep after this? #TheSister."
Another wrote: "Catching up on #TheSister and I absolutely love it. I find it terrifying! @russelltovey is always outstanding."

Russell, 38, recently revealed filming the series had pushed him out of his comfort zone.
He said at a press event for the series: "The thing about this role is you exist in this contained tension, where you – everything you’re saying is not what’s being said, and there is anxiety and absolute fear and panic.
"I definitely took it home with me, but I felt like you had to commit to this role, I had to do that to access this character, so I had to put myself in that position so when I finished this, I was absolutely exhausted."
The Sister continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
