A new political podcast digesting and analysing the biggest political stories across the North has been launched by the publisher of the Manchester Evening News.
The Northern Agenda podcast will be aired every Friday and features news and analysis from around the region as well as grilling political leaders on the big issues of the day.
It is hosted by the team behind The Northern Agenda daily newsletter, including Northern Agenda Editor Rob Parsons and Westminster Editor Dan O'Donoghue.
And the podcast will feature contributions from award-winning political journalists including Jennifer Williams of the Manchester Evening News as well as reporters on sister titles across the North including Liam Thorp of the Liverpool Echo and Graeme Whitfield, business and agenda editor for the Chronicle in Newcastle.
Listen to the first episode here:
The first episode of the podcast looks ahead to the Labour party conference, which starts in Brighton this weekend.
Host Rob Parsons and Jen Williams discuss the attention that's likely to be lavished on Greater Manchester metro mayor Andy Burnham on the south coast after he was touted as a potential future leader of the party.
The podcast asks if Mr Burnham will arrive at conference as the 'prince over the water', potentially overshadowing the Labour party leadership.
And former shadow chancellor John McDonnell speaks of his shock at the plans by party leader Keir Starmer to reform internal party election rules, saying they are an 'attack on the rank and file of our party'.
Our free Northern Agenda daily newsletter looks at the political stories that really matter across the North. It features the analysis of award-winning MEN political editor Jennifer Williams and the team of local democracy reporters across the North West, plus informed insight from political journalists on our sister titles in Yorkshire, Humber and the North East.

The Northern Agenda newsletter was launched earlier this year by Reach, which publishes the Manchester Evening News and regional news titles which cover every part of the north of England.
The newsletter shares stories written by public affairs journalists who live and work in the towns and cities across the region, offering a genuinely northern voice on national and regional politics. You can sign up to The Northern Agenda newsletter via this link.
The Northern Agenda podcast will be available wherever you get your podcasts, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
