BEN HAMER 6

Didn't get near either of Reading's first half goals and was helpless as Danny Drinkwater lashed home the third in the second half. Good saves to deny John Laurent and John Swift in the second half.

RYAN BENNETT 5

Good when it came to matters in possession, although he couldn't cover in time for Reading's first goal. Improved after a tough first half.

KYLE NAUGHTON - Star Man 6

Did his work typically well and got forward when possible. A rare bright spark from what was a messy defensive display from Swansea.

RHYS WILLIAMS 5

Making his first Championship start since mid-September, the Liverpool loanee had a few nervy moments in the opening half. Solid enough on the ball in fairness after a long period out.

ETHAN LAIRD 5

Far from his destructive best on the right flank. Well marshalled by the Reading defence and looked frustrated at failing to show the levels we're so used to seeing. Booked for his troubles.

MATT GRIMES 6

Made his fair share of tackles to help ensure Reading didn't dominate midfield. Tested Southwood with a free-kick but couldn't make that killer impact in the final third.

KOREY SMITH 5

A fine assist that led to Jamie Paterson opening the scoring in the third minute. Dropped deeper after starting high up before being replaced.

RYAN MANNING 6

Some decent moments in the Reading half and took his goal - his first for Swansea - remarkably well.

OLIVIER NTCHAM 6

Started well in a deeper role and looked the most likely to create something. Reliant on shots from distance in the second half as Swansea chased the game.

JAMIE PATERSON 6

Got his eighth goal of the campaign early on to put Swansea ahead and worked his socks off to make things happen.

JOEL PIROE 5

The Dutchman was on the periphery for long periods, despite getting into some decent positions. Had a few chances, but couldn't take them.

Subs

Flynn Downes (for Smith) - Helped to shore things up at the back as Swansea looked for a route back into the game. 6

Liam Cullen (for Bennett) - Didn't have much time to change things. N/A
