House prices across the country continue to rise with the average cost reaching a new high of £267,587.

Halifax has found the average price jumped by around £4,400 in September with property values jumping by 7.4% on an annual basis.

Russell Galley, managing director of Halifax, said growth in September was the strongest since February 2007, pushing year-on-year house price inflation up to 7.4%.

He added: “This also reversed the recent three-month downward trend in annual growth, which had peaked at an annual rate of 9.6% in May. The price of an average house is now as expensive as it has ever been, standing at just over £267,500.”

Some postcodes in Merseyside are well-known for being particularly valuable with homes often selling for well over seven figure sums.

Millionaire's Row in Formby has been home to some of Merseyside's most famous faces, including a number of footballing stars.

But there are a number of other postcodes in Merseyside where homeowners will have to fork out a premium to live on the street.

The L18 postcode was one of two in Liverpool recently named as one of the 'most in demand areas' to live in the UK by Purplebricks.

Properties in South Liverpool, including Allerton and Mossley Hill, are proving very popular with homeowners enjoying excellent schools and amazing green spaces.

Allerton also boasts the famous Penny Lane and is only a short 15 minute commute into Liverpool city centre.

In terms of property types, detached homes here sold for £637,076 over the last 12 months and semi-detached homes for £390,106.

Terraced homes sold for £235,943 with flats selling for £242,037.

'Millionaire's Row' in the L37 postcode is one of Merseyside's most exclusive streets home to some famous faces.

Victoria Road in Formby is often known as the region's "Millionaire's Row" thanks to the palatial homes lining the sought-after street.

With more than 60 homes occupying the one-mile stretch of prime real estate leading down to the Sefton coast, many of the price tags exceed the £1 million mark.

As previously reported, Jurgen Klopp, Wayne and Coleen Rooney, John Parrott and Brendan Rogers are just some of the big names to have lived in the area.

The average detached home in L37 sells for £462,769 and semi detached homes for £280,183. Terraced homes sell for £233,985 with flats going for £193,527.

L38

Ince Blundell and Hightown occupy the L38 postcode around eight miles north of Liverpool.

If you're buying a home in this postcode then you can look forward to living near Hightown beach with the Burbo Bank offshore windfarm in the distance.

Ince Blundell is a lovely, small village and one of the oldest settlements in Merseyside with residents championing the 'strong sense of community'.

The average price for a detached property in L38 stood at £382,283 in October 2021, £265,947 for a semi-detached and £169,366 for a flat.

L29

Sefton Village and Lunt can be found in the L29 postcode in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

Sefton Village is south west of Maghull and north east of Great Crosby. Lunt is another small village, close to Sefton Village, boasting beautiful properties and scenery.

House buyers can expect to pay around £434,050 for a detached home in the postcode and £281,535 for a semi-detached.

The current average value for a terraced home is £261,926 and £143,200 for a flat.

The L23 postcode includes the villages of Blundellsands, Brighton-le-Sands, Crosby, Little Crosby and Thornton.

Blundellsands in particular is a sought-after Merseyside area with many properties boasting sea views and plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and schools nearby.

There are a number of mega mansions in Blundellsands and Crosby with the average detached home value at £553,930.

The average price for semi-detached homes is £294,036, £204,670 for terraced homes and £204,009 for flats.
