Unfortunately for Holly Willoughby, she didn't escape the dreaded Halloween prank today as she made her way into work.

The 40-year-old presenter ended up screaming and running off in terror as she fell victim to the jump scare by This Morning.

A large blue box had been set up near the entrance to the ITV studios, inside of which sat a werewolf waiting to pounce.

As she waved an arm to say hello, Holly noticed the werewolf jump out at her from the side and she ran away and hid, staring at them in terror.

She wasn't the only one, however, as her co-star Phillip Schofield was left gasping after the prank.

After the werewolf leapt out at him, Phil clutched his chest as he said: "Morning heart attack done, thank you for that!"

The Loose Women stars were not impressed with the prank either, with Christine Lampard jumping and exclaiming: "Oh that is not funny!"

While Brenda Edwards nearly tripping up and falling backwards as she reacted to the werewolf as she shouted: "What the f***?!"

Frankie Bridge was also startled as she exclaimed: "Oh ****, you cow!"

But Ant Middleton, who was a guest on an ITV show, stayed cool as he failed to react and retorted: "You don't scare me."

He added: "I may have jumped a little, you do get that."

Renowned for their elaborate Halloween themes, This Morning viewers were on the edge of their seats as they awaited Holly and Phil's transformation.

Rebranded as 'Miss Morning', This Morning today opened for the first time ever to a murder as the team became involved in the nation's biggest whodunnit.

Clad in her mum's strapless red dress, diamond necklace and a faux fur scarf slung over one shoulder, it was clear that Holly, 40, was taking up the starring role as Miss Scarlett.

Phillip Schofield took on a gruff voice as he starred as Colononel Mustard, "whose bark was as bad as bad as his bite".

Josie Gibson was dressed as the Lady of the Manor as she hosted the This Morning party, who was promptly killed and dropped dead to the floor.

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
