A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged in connection with a rooftop siege, during which tiles were thrown at emergency services, to deny the charges he is facing.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has entered ‘not guilty’ pleas to counts of affray and criminal damage.
He appeared before magistrates sitting at Peterlee Youth Court on Friday and a trial date has been fixed for April 21.
The charges relate to an incident on Railway Street in Bishop Auckland on February 18.
A gang of five climbed on to the rooftops of a terraced street and caused damaged to several properties.
The suspect was arrested along with four other young men after damage was caused to a police car during the incident.
The teenager was not remanded into custody and has been granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance.
