A 17-year-old boy has died after being found with stab injury in north east London, police said.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to Westbury Road in Walthamstow at 9.20pm on Friday.

Despite treatment by paramedics at the scene the teenager was pronounced dead.

Police said officers are working to establish the 17-year-old's identity and inform his next of kin.

A crime scene is in place and an investigation is in progress, but no arrests have been made.

The victim became the thirteenth teenager to be murdered in the capital this year.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 9.20pm on Friday to Westbury Road, Walthamstow, after a 17-year-old boy was found suffering from a stab injury.

"He was treated by paramedics at the scene but, despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead.

"Officers are working to establish his identity and inform his next of kin. At this very early stage there have been no arrests."

He added: "A crime scene is in place and an investigation is in progress, led by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide).

"Any witnesses or those with information are asked to call police."
