The 220,000-ton container ship caused havoc after it became wedged in the banks of the Suez Canal on March 23.

Inchscape, a maritime services company, has reported that Ever Given was “successfully re-floated” at 4:16am GMT.

They added: “She is being secured at the moment. More information about next steps will follow once they are known.”

Joyce Karam, senior correspondent at The National News, wrote on Twitter: "EVER GIVEN ship has been UNSTUCK & Moving into #Suez Canal after 6 Days!!

"Egyptian crew managed to float it moments ago."
