Strictly star Joe Sugg launches acting career with West End role in hit musical Waitress

PLAY TIME

YEARS of performing on YouTube stands Joe Sugg in good stead, as he is launching a career on the West End.

I can reveal the Strictly Come Dancing finalist has bagged a role in hit musical Waitress and will join the show from September 9.

He will play geeky character Ogie, taking over from The Inbetweeners actor Blake Harrison at London’s Adelphi Theatre.

Speaking about the news, Joe said: “I got to see the show a couple of months back and it’s absolutely fantastic.

“I’m excited to be a part of the cast and to have now landed a role in the West End really has topped off an incredible year for me. I hope I do everyone proud.”

The musical, written by Sara Bareilles and about a waitress who’s stuck in a toxic relationship, launched on the West End in March and is currently set to run until January 2020.

His Strictly co-star Ashley Roberts also appeared in the cast over the summer as Dawn, Ogie’s love interest.

If Joe can prove he can sing and act as well as dance, he will be a real triple threat.
