Strictly Come Dancing star Sara Davies is hopeful that her partnership with Aljaz Skorjanec in the competition will liven up the pillow talk with her husband.

Sara and Simon were childhood sweethearts, first getting together at the age of 15. They’ve since married, launched a global stationary empire together, and have two children.

But after 14 years of marriage, the Dragons’ Den star admits the couple are running out of things to talk about, despite being such a firm team.

Speaking to The Sun ahead of her Strictly debut, Sara said: “At least now we’ll have something to talk about of a night!

“When you’re working on the same things all the time at work, there’s no chit-chat at the end of the day. It’s just all the same stuff.

“Now I’ll be able to tell him what I’m doing and he can tell me what he’s been doing at work. There will be bit of pillow talk for us.”

“It was my wedding anniversary on Wednesday, so I thought I would spend the whole day with my arms wrapped around another man,” she joked.

Simon doesn't seem to mind too much though - and on Instagram Sara has now shared pics of the two men in her life getting on like a house on fire.

"I’ve had the best first week with my new dance partner, as much as I’ve loved the training, the best part has been having Aljaz become an extended part of our family," she wrote. "He’s been coming round for dinner on an evening, chatted for hours with Simon and just fit in as part of the family!"

But despite the glam and glitz of her time in the Strictly ballroom, back at home everything is working as normal - with Sara laughing that she would have to have a ‘military operation’ in place to help look after her kids Oliver, seven, and Charlie, four.

Luckily for Simon, he has nothing to worry about with Aljaz, seeing as the pro dancer is loved up with his long-term partner, fellow Strictly pro Janette Manrara.

Aljaz and Sara made their ballroom debut this Saturday after getting paired up for this year’s competition.

She met Aljaz for the first time by the Angel of The North to celebrate her North-East roots.

She told cameras: “I cannot tell you how ridiculously beyond thrilled I am to be paired with Aljaz.”

“I really love people who are committed and driven, and Sara is a hard-worker for sure,” Aljaz added.

They will perform their first routine next week as the competition kicks off officially, though there will be no elimination until the following week.

Joining them are 14 other celebrities and their partners, all fighting for a shot at the glitterball.

Two groundbreaking couples were formed this year - with the show’s first same-sex couple, John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, and introduction of the first ever deaf participant, Eastenders’ Rose Ayling-Ellis.

It’s also the first year with Anton Du Beke as an official judge, with Janette making her debut off the dancefloor as the new It Takes Two presenter.

In order to secure the show and keep it Covid safe, a number of adjustments have been put in place for the cast and crew.

This includes pre-recording all professional dance routines - which open each show - and limiting audience numbers.

However, there’s already been trouble with one of the pros testing positive for coronavirus.

A BBC spokesperson told The Mirror: "A professional dancer has tested positive for COVID-19 however this didn’t affect recording of the launch show which airs this Saturday.

"We are following government guidelines to ensure the safety of all on the show.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7.45pm on BBC One.
