Strictly Come Dancing fans noticed host Claudia Winkleman appeared to to reference the new lockdown announcement on Saturday.

Claudia said the show might have to "go night night" as she joked with contestant Jamie Laing about letting him win the trophy early.

Craig Revel Horwood savaged Jamie's performance, calling it "really bad".

"The ballroom bit was really bad, your bottom was sticking out, you were creeping around like the Grinch, there was gapping all over the place," he said.

Claudia joked that the winner may be crowed early

"But all that said, I absolutely loved the opening section, the syncopation, I loved the Fred Estaire lines, it was difficult but some of it was brilliant!" he added.

"I think you should prepare yourself for a ten," said Claudia.

Karen Hauer and Jamie Laing gave it their all but were savaged

After the judges scored Jamie a 5, a 6, and a 6, Jamie joked: "Are we winning?"

"Of course you're winning, give him the Glitterball! Let's all go night night, we might have to anyway," replied Claudia.

Viewers picked up on her comment, as one tweeted: "LETS ALL GO NIGHT NIGHT #scd#strictly ".

Craig was slammed as "harsh" by viewers

Another remarked: "Tess struggling to compose herself after Claudia threatening for the whole show to "go night-night" <3 #scd#strictly ".

"“Let’s all go night night, we might have to anyway” Claudia #strictly," added a third alongside laughing face emojis.

Boris Johnson announced the new lockdown measures would mean people should work from home if possible, and it is not yet clear what this means for TV programmes.

The contestants are currently bubbled together and adhere to social distancing on set, plus the show has taken extra measures including a smaller, spread out studio audience.
