Katya Jones made her glamorous return to the Strictly Come Dancing studio last night after being forced to self-isolate and drop out of the competition when she tested positive for Covid-19.

She and celebrity partner Nicola Adams - who made history as the first same-sex couple on the show - had to quit after she contracted coronavirus.

Katya had to stay in quarantine for 10 days after getting her positive test, while Nicola - who tested negative - had to isolate for 14 days because she was in such close contact.

But eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted an excitable Katya sitting by herself on the sidelines last night, cheering on the other couples as they took to the dancefloor.

Katya Jones was spotted back in the studio
It's the first time she's joined her fellow pros since testing positive for Covid-19

After Ranvir Singh and Giovanni Pernice's romantic American Smooth to Aretha Franklin's I Say A Little Prayer, Katya was seen whooping and cheering from a table with the other professional dancers.

She pumped her fist in the air and applauded as Ranvir embraced Giovanni following their dreamy number.

Sadly, there was no sign of Nicola, who appears to have gone home to her girlfriend after leaving her Strictly bubble.

Shortly before the show, Katya took to Instagram to share snaps of herself getting her hair and makeup done by the pros.

Kanya talked her followers through her glam

"Back on Strictly means... getting glammed up!" she wrote on her Story.

She opted for blue smoky eyeshadow, full black lashes and a glossy pink lip, with her brunette locks styled into sleek waves, and topping off her look with a gold ear cuff.

Later she changed into a figure-hugging sequinned corset dress, with diamante-studded straps and a bodice picked out with colourful crystals.

The Russian dancer was ready to shine - although she wasn't allowed to sit with anyone else, as each couple has been 'bubbling' together

Her long hair was swept up into a high pony as she laughed: "Hair change for no reason!"

"Well that was one hell of a show," she told her followers afterwards.

"Hope you guys enjoyed it. Let me know who you're voting for."
