Strictly Come Dancing fans were convinced judge Craig Revel Horwood was being particularly nasty on Saturday night.

Jamie Laing and Jacqui Smith both faced his wrath after their performances and he did not hold back.

He told Jamie, who performed with Karen Hauer: "The ballroom bit was really bad, your bottom was sticking out, you were creeping around like the Grinch, there was gapping all over the place," he said.

Craig has been slammed as too harsh for his low scoring and mean comments

"But all that said, I absolutely loved the opening section, the syncopation, I loved the Fred Estaire lines, it was difficult but some of it was brilliant!" he added.

"I think you should prepare yourself for a ten," said Claudia.

Craig said Jacqui Smith looked "lost and drunk at a party"

Jacqui performed with her partner Anton du Beke and Craig was even harsher to her, telling her she looked drunk.

"You actually severed your Achilles tendon through that, darling, you were limping about, lost at a party drunk," he said.

The studio audience booed as Craig went on to say Anton did well to put Jacqui on a swing during the performance.

Jamie performance was torn apart by Craig, who called it "really bad"

Viewers felt Craig went overheard with one tweeting: "Craig a bit harsh".

" #Strictly Jacqui looks amazing. She did better than last week though. Craig is harsh with 2," added another.

"Omg Craig a 2??!! That’s so harsh. It wasn’t good but she tried," wrote a third.

But others thought Craig was actually nicer than in previous series, with some even wondering if he had been told to be kinder.

" #Strictly who is that man pretending to be Craig? Bring back the nasty #strictly " pondered one.

Another remarked: "Craig has definitely read the 2020 room and is less harsh, giving positives and negatives. #Strictly."
