Stranger grabbed girl, 7, from terrified mum on London street and ran off

The Sun

A STRANGER grabbed a little girl from her terrified mum and ran off with her over his shoulder on a London street.

Police are hunting for the culprit who snatched the child, aged 7, and hoisted her over his shoulder as she was walking with her mum in Camberwell at 5pm today.

Detectives say the girl was on the pavement in Mary Datchelor Close when the man grabbed her, slung her over his shoulder and carried her for around 100 metres.

He then dropped her on the ground before running off.

The girl was not physically hurt, police say.

Police say they're searching for a black man of stocky build.

The suspect was wearing a yellow sleeveless tabard over a black long-sleeved top with blue jeans.

His age is not known.

Tonight, Met Police officers said: "An urgent investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances."

Any witnesses who have yet to speak with police, or anyone with dashcam footage or other information that may assist, should call 101 reference Cad 5832/22Oct.
