Viewers tuning into last night's episode of The Chase were left 'spooked' out after one question seemed particularly prophetic.

Some were even left wondering if the game show even 'predicted' the coronavirus pandemic, currently wreaking havoc across the world and forcing people to stay indoors.

During the episode's sound round of questions, host Bradley Walsh asked one of the contestants: "World War Two railway posters asked Is your journey really... what?"

The correct answer was 'necessary' - a word that seems all too familiar these days as it echoes the messaging coming from the UK government for Brits to only travel if absolutely essential.

People watching from home took to Twitter to react, with many left stunned.

One viewer posted: "Is your journey really necessary... how apt."

Another said: "Necessary! Does that sound familiar?"

A third wrote: "Won't be long until quiz shows start using 'during the coronavirus pandemic government advise stated... is your journey really... necessary' more like 'essential' now!"

"Is your journey really necessary? #thechase#spooky." A fourth put.

It comes after quizmaster Anne Hegerty, aka The Governess, discussed co-star Paul Sinha's suspected coronavirus during Wednesday's instalment of Good Morning Britain.

Speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan, she said: "He's been tweeting about how he's really been quite ill for that last ten days or so.

"We're hoping he's over the worst of it now."
