A social media guru is connecting people from all over the world by sharing his lockdown adventures of exploring Ayrshire.

Stuart Smith, from Mossblown, created the Facebook page ‘Live Around The World With Stu & Co’ to showcase Scotland with the rest of the world.

The 32-year-old created the page – which has almost 5000 followers – as a welcoming distraction on the back of two family bereavements in 2019.

And he hopes with another lockdown more people can enjoy his travels virtually and create a future must visit list when restrictions are lifted.

Stuart said: “It’s just a way of connecting people from all over the world and showing them what we have in Scotland, and on our doorstep.

“Obviously people can’t come to Scotland at the moment, so we’ll take Scotland to them.

Stuart has since moved in with his parents in Dalry after creating a bubble with them and has enjoyed seeing new places within North Ayrshire.

He has even fundraised for mental health charity SAMH by teaming up with other well-known Facebook creators – such as Danny Posthill from Britain’s Got Talent and Mandi Fisher from BBC’s All Together Now – to create an inspiring video tackling online hate and trolling.

Stuart said: “I’ve received online hate even though I’m a small new creator.

“I sometimes overshare stuff on Facebook but I’m just being me.

“These trolls think they can sit and write what they want but they wouldn’t dream of coming up to you in the street and saying it.

“Doing things on the page has helped massively with my mental health- and getting to talk to people from across the world is amazing.”
