There are six banks that are currently paying up to £130 in cash for you to switch to them.

These money rewards are known as “bank bribes” and the good news is, there is plenty of time to get most of these rewards before Christmas.

The top cash reward is from Santander, which will offer you £130 - its first cash bribe in nine years - to move your current account.

Nationwide is paying out £100 for new customers, or £125 for existing customers, while HSBC is offering £110 in cash and £30 in Uber Eats vouchers.

Meanwhile, both RBS and Nationwide will give you £100 to switch. Or if you’d rather put your cash towards a day out, Virgin Money will give you a £150 “experience” gift card.

Of course, for any switch bribe you’re interested in, you’ll need to meet the terms and conditions before you apply - or you won’t get the cash.

You should also make sure the bank account you’re switching to is right for you - don’t just move for the cash reward alone.

Finally, make sure you switch using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) to get these rewards.

Here is a breakdown of how each bank bribe works:

Santander - £130 plus cashback

Santander is offering £130 for new customers who move across to its Santander 123 Lite account.

With this account, you have to pay a £2 monthly fee to keep it open but you do get cashback on bills paid by direct debit from it.

You can get up to £5 per month in each "tiers" that are eligible for cashback.

This is broken down as follows: 3% for water, 2% energy, 1% council tax, mobiles, broadband, paid-for TV & Santander mortgages.

To get the cashback, you need to pay in at least £500 to this account each month and be new to Santander, or if not, switch in a non-Santander account to your existing one.

To complete the switch you must, within 60 days of starting the process:

Santander hasn't given an end date for its switch bribe, although it can be pulled any time.

But if you want the money in time for Christmas, you'll need to act quickly.

Santander says it will assess your account 60 days after the switch has been instructed to decide whether you have qualified for the cash bribe.

If you qualify, it could then take up to 30 days for the money to hit your account.

This means you'd need to start the switch process by September 25 to make sure the cash arrives by December 24.

Nationwide - £125 (existing customers) or £100 (new customers)

If you're an existing Nationwide customer, you can get £125 by choosing it as your current account provider, or new customers will get £100

The £100 offer is available across a range of Nationwide accounts but the "stand-out" offer is the fee-free Nationwide FlexDirect according to the experts at MoneySavingExpert.

This account offers a 0% overdraft for one year before converting to 39.9% EAR after that.

If you already have a FlexDirect, FlexAccount or FlexPlus account, you must use Nationwide internet banking to switch an account you hold with another provider to claim the £125 bonus.

Nationwide mortgage or savings customers can also open one of the three Flex accounts above and request the switch.

To complete the switch you must, within 30 days:

There is no minimum pay in.

Nationwide also hasn't said how long this deal will run for but it can be stopped at any time.

In its terms and conditions of the offer, the bank says it will credit the switch payment to your current account within 10 calendar days of the full switch completing.

It typically takes seven working days to move bank accounts using CASS.

This means, if the offer was to run up until Christmas, you'd need to switch by December 3 to get the money by December 24.

But it may not last until December, so if you're tempted to switch, you'd be best to do it sooner rather than later.

HSBC - £110 and £30 Uber Eat vouchers

HSBC's bank bribe incentive is made up of £110 in cash and £30 in Uber Eat or The Dining Out vouchers - so £140 of perks in total.

You can claim these by switching to the fee-free HSBC Advance account and paying in at least £1,750 per month.

You must also be approved for an arranged overdraft of £1,000.

Finally, you can't be a current HSBC current account holder and must not have been or after January 1, 2018.

To complete the switch you must, within 30 days:

Again, HSBC hasn't said when this switch offer will end.

It says it'll pay you the £110 plus £30 vouchers within 20 days of the switch being complete - so factor in the seven working days it takes for this, and you'd need to apply by November 24 to get the cash by Christmas.

RBS - £100 plus £3 per month

RBS and its sister bank Ulster have joined the bank bribe rewards with an incentive of £100 to move your account.

MoneySavingExpert says the account it recommends switching to is RBS Reward which charges a £2 monthly fee but then pays £5 per month if you have two direct debits and log in to its online banking.

This means you're technically up by £3 per month.

And if you stick with this account, you'll be rewarded another £50 in November 2022 - provided you've paid in £1,250 per month (its minimum amount) and complete ten transactions between January to September.

For new customers, you must sign up to an RBS Select, Reward, Premier Select or Premier Reward account.

Or for existing customers who already have one of these accounts, you'll need to transfer a non-RBS current account to your existing eligible account.

To complete the switch you must:

RBS says this offer is only available until 5pm on November 18, 2021 and says the money will be paid no later than January 28, 2022.

It isn't clear if this January date applies to those who meet the conditions on the last dates of the offer.

We've asked RBS for more information and the likelihood of the bonus arriving before Christmas and we'll update this article when we know more.

Lloyds Bank - £100 and free cinema tickets

Switch to a Club Lloyds account and you'll get £100 plus one of four perks for the year:

For this account, you need to pay in at least £1,500 per month. There is a £3 monthly fee but this gets refunded if you meet the minimum pay.

To get the cash bribe, you need to switch by October 19, 2021.

Lloyds says it will then pay you the £10 ten days after your switch has completed, which means you'll get the money in plenty of time for Christmas.

There is no mention of having to switch over any direct debits to be eligible for the switch bonus.

You won't be eligible for the switch cash if you've had a switch bonus from Lloyds since April 2019, or if you want to upgrade an existing Lloyds account.

Virgin Money - £150 voucher

Instead of cash, Virgin Money will give you a £150 voucher to put towards Virgin Experience Days.

It also pays 2.02% AER variable in-credit interest but only on up to £1,000.

To complete the switch you must, within 45 days:

You won't be eligible for the gift card if you've previously got a switch gift from Virgin Money, or if you've had a current account with Virgin or its sisters Clydesdale or Yorkshire Bank, since March 21.
