A food bank in Lanarkshire has secured a large grant from the National Lottery as it continues to try to help struggling families.
Shotts-based Paul's Parcels won £8178 from the lottery. This allows volunteers to expand community refrigerators. This has been a huge success with the locals. -Perishable items.
The food bank is coordinated by Tracey Duffy and his partner Gerry McCann. It was named in honor of founder Tracy's brother, Paul, who died seven years ago at the age of just 37.

Speaking to her Live in Lanarkshire, Jerry said:
“Community refrigerators have made a big difference for people because they can get essentials like bread and milk. We can also provide chicken, potatoes, etc.
"We also participated in Fareshare, which redistributes surplus food to charities and turns it into meals, so this grant will help us. They will be of great help.”
With the cost of living crisis expected to deepen later this year, food banks and other charities such as Pauls Parcels are poised to expand more than ever before. is expected.
Food banks are now helping about 200 people through their doors each week, as well as people in nearby villages such as Salsburg, Harthill and Allanton.

"At this point, we don't know what October will bring, but what we've found is that rather than people receiving a bag of messages, they're taking a few things out of their community refrigerators.
"People are going through tough times right now, so it's important that we're there for them."
