Sheridan Smith reveals her son is named after her late brother who tragically died aged 18

SHERIDAN Smith has revealed that her son is named after her late brother who tragically died aged 18.

The actress, 40,  welcomed her adorable baby son Billy with partner Jamie Horn in May 2020.

In a recent post, Sheridan shared a touching tribute to mark her late brother Julian's 50th birthday.

The TV star has honoured her late brother by giving Billy the middle name Julian.

Alongside a photo of her brother climbing a tree, she wrote: "Today would’ve been my big brother Julian’s 50th birthday, so I celebrated him with his beautiful nephew Billy “Julian” 🥰."

Sheridan said she was "overwhelmed with love" after welcoming her son last year.

She posted a picture to her Instagram confirming news, captioning it: "Our little man has arrived! We are both completely overwhelmed with love 💙"

Friends of the star raced to congratulate her.

Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley commented: "Oh darling!!!!! Huge congratulations!! Enjoy every second momma ❤️❤️"

Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson added: "Ahhh massive congratulations xxx"

The actress's happy arrival comes just weeks after she finished filming for new ITV drama Isolation - from the comfort of her own home during lockdown.

She starred as heavily pregnant Mel in one of the four 15-minute dramas depicting life in lockdown.

Speaking about the role and the unique filming situation, which saw every scene shot at home, Sheridan said: "I am heavily pregnant and have been isolating at home so I jumped at the chance to make a drama about the massive drama going on all around us right now.

"I think it's really important to try and reflect what's happening to us whilst it is still actually happening."

Sheridan confirmed the news she was expecting a baby in October 2019 while talking to audience members on a cruise ship.

The star said: "I've got a baby on board."

The actress first sparked pregnancy rumours when she told fans she was suffering from "morning sickness".

She captioned an Instagram picture: "About to set sail for 4 days, wish me luck with my morning sickness."
