Actress Sheridan Smith has been involved a horrifying car crash after her Range Rover ploughed into a tree last night, according to reports.
The Sun have reported that the 40-year-old is "lucky to be alive" after she swerved off the road due to the horrendous weather caused by Storm Arwen.
Police told the publication that they had spoken to a 40-year-old and her boyfriend following the car crash, but that no other driver was involved and no crime committed.
Our sister paper The Mirror has reached out to Essex Police and Sheridan Smith for comment.
A neighbour also told the news outlet: "Sheridan is so lucky to be alive. It could have been so much worse. Her car was stuck in the tree, it was a really bad crash.
“It could have been so much worse, she had cuts and bruises, but it could have been fatal, she was incredibly lucky. It was a brand new Range Rover, she hasn’t had it long. It’s almost a miracle she’s not hurt herself more."
They added that the road she had been driving on had an "incredibly tight bend" and that the car had been "stuck in the tree".
Sheridan had been driving in incredibly icy conditions while Storm Arwen wreaked havoc with 60mph winds.

Her crash is reported to have been enough to break a large branch from a tree and local farmers had to help police get through to the scene by cutting down parts of a second tree.
It comes after ITV recently responded following Sheridan's reported backstage misogyny row while on The Jonathan Ross Show.
The actress is alleged to claimed the atmosphere was 'chauvinistic' and she wasn't treated with kindness, while she was behind the scenes of the show.
The 40-year-old star appeared alongside singer Gary Barlow as they promoted their new Christmas song collaboration - and she was seen smiling throughout.
But Sheridan reportedly threatened to sack staff during a heated argument following the conclusion of the chat show.
She was a guest alongside actors Stephen Merchant and Ruz Ahmed with music great Sting and Grand Tour star Jeremy Clarkson also on the sofa.
The Sun report that the Funny Girl actress was livid backstage after not being treated with "kindness".
"Sheridan was absolutely furious when filming on Jonathan Ross had ended," the source said.
"She claimed the atmosphere was chauvinistic and there was an air of misogyny. She also claimed that she felt she had not been treated with kindness."ITV have responded to the reports in a statement.
The network said: "When booking the show, we are always keen to ensure we are diverse and inclusive to all. We treat our guests with courtesy and respect at all times."
A representative for Jonathan Ross told the Sun: "Sheridan seemed to have a great time on the show but appeared to become upset afterwards.
"Jonathan asked her if she was OK and she said, 'Don't worry, it's not you'. So Jonathan assumed it was a personal matter between Sheridan and the group of people she'd come with.
"We will investigate immediately. I hope Sheridan knows we would never take a claim of this kind lightly."
Sheridan has yet to comment on the reports.
