Police and an air ambulance have been called to a holiday park after a "serious incident".

The scene at Parkdean's Ty Mawr Holiday Park in Towyn, North Wales, has been cordoned off this afternoon.

An air ambulance landed close to the park on the A548, with the road shut in both directions.

North Wales Police have confirmed there is no threat to the wider public.

In a tweet, the force said: "Officers are attending a serious incident at a Holiday Park near Abergele. Investigations are ongoing. Apologies for any difficulty.

"There is no threat to the public but please stay away as we deal with the incident. Thanks for your patience."

A park spokesperson confirmed it is assisting police.

They said: "There has been an incident at the park and our team are assisting the police. It would be inappropriate to comment further."

A holidaymaker who is staying in a caravan near to the scene, said they were stuck in traffic as the emergency services first arrived.

The witness, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Mirror: "They have taped everywhere off now around the caravans and blocked the gaps with vans so you can't see through the gaps."
