A gang of men believed to be trying to steal a motorbike were scared off when the owner's girlfriend screamed at the gang from a window.

The suspected attempted theft was reported to have happened at a house on Wilburn Street in Walton on Friday (April 9) in the early hours of the morning.

The woman, who didn't wish to be named, told the ECHO she had been alerted via her home security system which sent a message to her phone saying movement had been detected outside the house.

It's believed the men were attempting to steal the woman's boyfriend's motorcycle that he uses for work as a delivery driver.

She said: "This is the third time trying to steal my boyfriend’s motorcycle.

"The security system informed me on the cell phone that there was movement.

"My boyfriend ran to get them and I screamed a lot at the window.

"They got startled and ran away. But they had time to cut the lock on my gate."

After the men ran off the couple checked their CCTV cameras and found they had clearly captured the masked men climbing over their garden wall.

Police said four men had reportedly been part of the gang but the video footage shows just two of the men carefully climbing onto the wall at the back of the house with the motorbike in full view.

They appeared to both be wearing dark clothing, gloves and masks, while one was wearing a bubble style coat.

The woman posted the footage up on a Liverpool crime group with the line: "Rats trying to steal motorcycle now in L4."

After watching the CCTV footage people responded to the post, referring to the suspected thieves as "rats" and "scum".
