A Scots school girl was sexually assaulted by two teenage boys as she walked down a Lanarkshire street.

The 15-year-old was targeted near the Islamic Education Centre on Eastfield Road in Cumbernauld on Saturday, October 16.

Two boys, believed to be aged 17, made crude sexual remarks towards the young girl before grabbing her inappropriately from behind at around 3.30pm.

Police say the duo then ran off in the direction of the Tesco store and officers are keen to trace them.

One boy is described as being 5ft 11in tall, with blonde/brown hair and was wearing a grey hooded top at the time.

The second suspect is believed to be around 5ft 7in and was wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood up.

Detective Constable Emma MacFarlane, of Coatbridge CID, said: "This was an upsetting incident for the 15-year-old girl who should have been able to walk along the road without being subjected to that.
