Scots have captured a spine-chilling figure of a ‘woman in a white gown’ on camera while exploring a spooky abandoned hospital.

Jamie Osborne and Michael Cosgrove visited Rosslynlee Hospital, near Roslin in Midlothian, last summer where they took photos of eerie rooms untouched since the mental health facility closed a decade ago.

The pair, both 20, were left with goosebumps when they checked one image and noticed a ghostly white figure lingering behind them and ‘looking towards the camera’.

Jamie, from Edinburgh, said the 'air turned cold' when they entered the spooky building and that the duo could 'see their breath' despite it being summer.

He told the Daily Record: “We were in different rooms like the nursery and the nurses rooms.

“We then found a way into the actual building where it got a lot colder where we could see our breath even though it was the middle of summer.

“We looked around where we found old sweet wrappers and old cassette tapes.”

The pair took turns taking a photo sitting in a wheelchair which had been left abandoned in a room in the main building of the eerie hospital.

But the pals were left terrified when they realised they had captured what appeared to be a woman wearing a white gown who was ‘reaching over’ Michael in the chair.

Jamie added: “We then positioned the wheelchair and took a couple photos and when we looked back through them we saw what looked like someone pushing the chair.

“After further examination it now looks like something much taller reaching over the chair and looking towards the camera.”

“Once we saw this we quickly left and didn’t go back”.

The hospital, which is now reportedly sealed off, was erected in 1874 before it was closed in 2011 and has since been the target of urban explorers who claim the site is haunted.

It was founded under its original name of Midlothian and Peebles Asylum and was a psychiatric hospital until late 2010 before eventually closing a year later.

The hospital was deemed unnecessary due to the construction of the New Midlothian Community Hospital at Mayshade, Eskbank which was completed in September 2010.

Rosslynlee Hospital is a Category C Listed Building and used to house a closed community of up to 500 patients within its 64 acres of gorund.
