Trouble has kicked off in Leicester Square between warring England and Scotland football fans.

Police are currently in attendance and have formed a barrier between the two groups of supporters.

Thousands of Tartan Army fans had gathered in central London ahead of the 8pm kick off however the numbers have started to reduce one the Euro 2020 match began.

One person has been tackled to the floor by officers

A group of individuals, understood to be England fans, made their way to the busy road where Scots continued to party shortly before 9pm before the groups began facing off.

At least one person has been tackled to the ground by officers who are attempting to keep the two groups apart.

Fans are being moved apart and away from the area

Fans are now being escorted from the area however some scuffles have broken out.

A statement from the City of Westminster Police said: “Police are currently engaging with opposing fans in Leicester Square.

"Please continue to avoid the area."
