A Paisley man and his housemates took a ‘wholesome’ route around their landlord’s dog-ban to become best pals with a new pooch.

Jack McCrossan and his three housemates were desperate to have a doggy friend inside their rented flat, but their landlord didn’t let them.

So they decided to write to their neighbour, asking if they could walk their pet from time to time, reports the Mirror .

They were all astonished when they received a reply from the dog himself - which came complete with paw print.

The correspondence read: “Give my servant a WhatsApp and we can meet up.”

Jack, who lives with his pals in Bristol, took to social media to explain how the canine correspondence came about.

He wrote: "Been saying we'd love a dog about the house but our landlord doesn't allow pets.

"So my housemate posted a letter to our neighbours asking if we could walk their dog every once awhile.

"And the response was better than we could have ever hoped for.”

The lads' letter read: "Dear neighbour, we are four engineers that have recently moved into the area in the past three-four months.

"The other day, we noticed a four-legged friend looking at us out the window when we arrived home from work. He or She looked like the good-est boy/girl there is.

"If you ever need someone to walk him/her, we will gladly do so. If you ever get bored (we know you never will, but we can dream) we are more than happy to look after him/her.

"We hope this doesn't come too strong, but our landlord won't allow pets , and we've all grown up with animals. The adult life is a struggle without one.

"We look forward to hearing from you, or not. Yours sincerely, The boys from number 23."

Neighbours Chris and Sarah, then replied to the boys under the guise of their two-year-old Sheprador Stevie Ticks.
In the letter, they said: "Dearest Boys, what a treat it was to receive your letter!

"I am two years and four months old, and I am a Sheprador (Lab x German Shepherd). I come from Cyprus originally but Chris and Sarah rescued me from a cage in the 'doggy hotel'!

"You're right that I am the bestest-girl - how did you know?? I am very friendly and full of beans. I love meeting new people and it would be great if we could be friends.

"I'd love to hang out whenever you fancy. Give my servant Chris a Whatsapp and we can arrange a meet up."

The letter was then signed: "Stevie Ticks.”

Stevie Ticks wrote back

Yesterday, the boys from number 23 had their wishes come true. Jack posted a picture of him and his friends posing with Stevie, Jack captioned his post: "The boys from 23 just met Stevie, looks like the start of a beautiful friendship."

@whatlyddid responded: "Is number 25 free? Maybe number 22? I need to move to this wholesome neighbourhood ASAP.”

@ElofLa said: "I totally get this. Life without the dogs I used to have in life is just so very empty and sad. I'm so glad for you that you have found new friends and ways to keep dogs in your life. This is a great story."

@-AttorneyAtPaw commented: "This is the most wholesome thing I've seen in a long time."

@alienstokes posted: "The dog's name is Stevie Ticks...oh man this is the best ever."
