Royal Ascot MASSIVE market movers on day four as punters pile on these horses after deluge of rain

WET WET WET

ROYAL ASCOT has been hit by a deluge of rain ahead of the racing on day four.

Racegoers will have to battle the elements as 12,000 of them pile into the Berkshire track.

But while they may not be loving the weather, these market movers most certainly will.

The conditions will play perfectly into the hoofs of horses proven on soft.

And those who love a bit of cut in the ground should lap it up after much firmer turf over the first three days.

Here, we look at the early market movers on day four courtesy of Paddy Power.

2.30pm - Flotus (3-1 to 5-2) and Eve Lodge (8-1 to 11-2)

Britain's No 1 tipster Templegate has already picked out Flotus - Frankie Dettori's runner - as one of his selections.

But keep an eye out for Eve Lodge. Already into 11-2 from 8-1, the two-year-old won over heavy at Lingfield last time out.

3.05pm Gear Up (12-1 to 9-1)

The Mark Johnston-trained three year old has previously won on heavy and could go well with James Doyle in the saddle.

4.20pm Empress Josephine (7-1 to 9-2)

Won the Irish 1000 Guineas on heavy ground and previously won at Naas on heavy too.

Should love even more rain.

5.35pm Mirann (14-1 to 9-1) and Favourite Moon (20-1 to 12-1)

Mirann is proven on soft and heavy ground and should go well, although stall ten might be a slight drawback.

Tom Marquand's ride Favourite Moon has come right in given his three wins have all come on soft ground in the past 12 months.

Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said: “Punters are coming for horses proven with a dig in the ground and it’s not surprising that Empress Josephine has been extremely popular in the Coronation Stakes given she won her maiden on soft and seemed to relish the heavy conditions when scooping the Irish 1,000 Guineas last time.”
