A section of road in Liverpool was sealed off after reports of smoke being seen coming out of the ground.

The cordon is in place in one part of Windsor Street and Merlin Street, Toxteth, with a Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokesperson confirming crews responded to reports of smoke coming from a grid at around 3.30pm.

Police officers put up a 25 metre cordon in place surrounding the man hole.
