Celtic have been superb on the road in Europe this season.

The Parkhead outfit have picked up wins over AIK, Nomme Kalju, Sarajevo - and a draw in Romania against Cluj.

But they will need to top all of those performances and more to come away from Rennes with another positive result in their opening Europa League Group E clash.

Rennes lie second in Ligue 1, with only a PSG side they have already beaten this season above them.

But there is still cause for optimism.

Rennes did lose their last home game to Nice and were held 0-0 at mid-table Stade Brest on Saturday - and Scottish sides hold something of a sign over Celtic's opponents.

Rennes have still never beaten a Scottish team, with two draws and two defeats in their other European showdowns.

The French side are in Europe courtesy of their shock French Cup final triumph over PSG, and showed their pedigree with a march to last season's Europa League last-16 where they lost narrowly to Arsenal after beating the Gunners.

They will be missing the creativity of Hatem Ben Arfa, who remains without a club after leaving when his contract expired in the summer.

Celtic faced Rennes in a pre-season friendly

But Sporting Lisbon winger Raphinha arrived to fill that void and has already scored twice since his switch.

Celtic have netted in every game this season so it's a surprise to see Both Teams To Score at a near double your money 10/11 with thepools.com .

Both Teams To Score and Either Side to Win is an even better 15/8 .

First scorers?

James Forrest has landed several times for us already this season - including Saturday's 9/2 tip at against Hamilton. He's a huge 9/1 to repeat that trick on Thursday.

Odsonne Edouard is 11/2 to score first for Neil Lennon's side, while the aformentioned Raphinha is a big 7/1 to score first with Niang favourite at 5/1 .
