RB Leipzig star Timo Werner has addressed transfer rumours which have linked him with a Liverpool switch.

The German international was in action for Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and scored the only goal of the game as his side defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0.

And following the last 16 showdown in London, the 23-year-old forward was asked about reports linking him to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Werner told Viasport:"Yes I know that Liverpool is the best team in this moment in the world.

"And when you are linked with that team it makes me very proud.

"But in case of that, yeah, it's a pleasure but I know that in Liverpool there are a lot of good players.

"And I have to improve myself, then to learn much more things to get on this level to play there."

Werner has scored a phenomenal 20 goals in 22 Bundesliga outings so far this term as Leipzig battle it out with Bayern Munich at the top of the table.
