Ian Evatt has heaped praise on his opposite number Ryan Lowe ahead of his Bolton Wanderers side taking on Plymouth Argyle and believes the duo have had similar paths in management so far.

Wanderers head to Devon tomorrow evening to take on the Pilgrims at Home Park.

It will pit Evatt up against Lowe, two young managers who have had a lot of success early on in their coaching careers.

Evatt has won promotions with both Barrow and Wanderers, while Lowe has done the same with Bury and Argyle.

Plymouth sit top of League One at present, having finished last season 18th, and strengthened over the summer, being rewarded so far this season with being at the summit of the division.

Evatt is full of admiration for his opposite number at Home Park, but is looking for a response from his side after the weekend loss to Wigan Athletic and perform to the levels and standards expected.

He said: “Ryan has done really well, had a lot of success early in his career similar to me, and our profiles are quite similar.

“Last year they strengthened, almost a consolidation period, and now they have kicked on.

“They have had some excellent results and they are top of the league for a reason. At the moment they are the best team in the league.

“We have to perform to our levels and standards and hopefully that will be enough to get us a result.”
