Pub opening and closing times today: Wetherspoon, Marston’s and All Bar One hours and new rules explained

TODAY, thousands of pubs across England have reopened their doors after the four month lockdown – including Wetherspoon, Marston’s and All Bar One branches.

Boozers were finally given the go-ahead to reopen this weekend, with people everywhere now dubbing the lifting of restrictions today as “Super Saturday”.

But pub-goers are only able to visit their local with one other household.

The government has outlined clear instructions of what pubs need to do so they can reopen safely, which includes making sure social distancing is maintained and banning live music and comedy gigs.

Guidance has also been issued around serving customers, which includes encouraging table service where possible and offering table bookings instead of walk-ins to keep a cap on numbers.

Ministers also announced yesterday that pubs could welcome back customers from 6am today.

This was to prevent anyone trying to open their doors at 12am.

Here’s a breakdown of when Marston’s, Wetherspoon and All Bar One will be opening their doors.

All Bar One

The Mitchell and Butler brand of bars and pubs will also be returning today – but with varied times.

As it offers brunch to its customers, the majority of its locations are open from 9am or 10am.

However as the times vary, it’s best to ring your local branch to check as the timings on its website may not be correct.

All Bar One has 52 locations nationwide, and we’ve asked how many have opened today.

We will update this story when we hear back.

All Bar One is also offering bookings, and has stated that it has capped the number of people who are allowed to be at one table.

The chain has said on it website: “The safety and well-being of our guests and team members is our top priority.  In order that we can meet the current UK Govt guidelines regarding safe distancing, for now, the maximum number of guests per table booking will be six.”

It added that the menus may be different to the previous ones as some branches may have supply issues when gathering ingredients.

Marston’s

Back in March, Marston's was forced to shut its 1,400 pubs across the UK.

But today it’s back in business, and is reopening around 1,200 of its boozers once again.

Keen pint drinkers can book a table at their nearest Marston's pub already, either through its website or by phoning a pub.

You can find your nearest local, including its contact details, by using its pub locator tool.

Customers can also still walk in and Marston's said it'll do its best to accommodate.

Some places were already filling up with bookings last week, so it might be better to try and book ahead if you can.

The opening hours at Marston's will be largely the same as before lockdown, which typically are between 11am until 11pm every day.

Marston's says it'll operate a limited menu, but it hasn't yet clarified what items it's removed.

A spokesperson told The Sun it's running a simplified menu in order to keep the speed of service while maintaining social distancing between kitchen staff. It also wants to keep queueing for food to a minimum.

Wetherspoon

Unlike many of its rivals, the UK pub chain previously told The Sun it isn’t going to offer table bookings today.

Instead, people will have to turn up and hope that they are able to get in.

Queues were already beginning to form earlier today.

A spokesman for Wetherspoon said most pubs opened from 8am, but this may vary in different branches.

Use the Wetherspoon pub finder to check when your local is open.

Before lockdown, Wetherspoon already set up an app so people could order drinks and food without going to the bar.

This is going to be in use today too.

Tables have also been spaced out or screens put up in between them in order to allow customers to keep safe.

You can read more about all the changes here.

Wetherspoon has said it'll reopen 750 pubs on July 4 - it has around 875 locations in total.

Ahead of Super Saturday, Carlsberg launched a website to find local pubs open near you.

Some pubs are capping the amount of time drinkers can hold a table for.

They could also face being shut down this weekend if they don’t follow these three rules.
