Gamers have been battling to get their hands on the latest PlayStation 5 amid limited stock supplies since its release in November last year.

Sony has said it had received "unprecedented" demand, making it their "biggest console launch ever".

Stocks have rapidly been snapped up across the UK with many gamers struggling to get their hands on a console due to long online queues and crashing websites.

There were virtually no major stock drops in April as a result of international shipments being delayed due to transport issues.

But according to one PS5 UK stock checker site, PlayStation 5 consoles will go on sale during the second week of May.

"Major PS5 Stock should arrive second week of May if everything goes to plan," reads a PS5 UK Stock - Instant Updates tweet.

And in further good news for gamers, Smyths Toys is expecting to have more of the popular Sony devices on sale again very soon.

The PlayStation 5 console, with the disk tray, will set you back £449.99 at Smyths Toys, and has been listed with “Out of stock. Expected in stock: May 2021” on their website.

Customers eagerly awaiting the release of further digital editions of the PS5 won't have as long to wait with the site currently saying "Out of Stock. Expected in stock: April 2021".

We don't have a confirmed date for when the new stock will drop, but with the end of April fast approaching we would suggest checking the website daily.

It has been known to check around midnight, and then early in the morning - between the hours of 7am and 9am, then again at midday.

This is because these are common re-stocking times for retailers to drop products.
