Prince Philip: Prince Charles speaks following father’s passing
The Royal Family will wear mourning bands and black or dark colours in memory of the Duke of Edinburgh. In line with tradition, Members of Parliament will wear black armbands on their left arm during the mourning period.
Prince Philip, the longest-serving consort to a monarch in British history, died on Friday at the age of 99.
The Duke will receive a ceremonial royal funeral on Saturday 17 April at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
His extraordinary service to the Queen was highlighted on Saturday by Prince Charles, who made an emotive statement outside his home.
He paid tribute to his late father while thanking everyone who had issued a heartwarming message in his honour.

The Prince of Wales added that people around the world mourning the death of Prince Philip "share our loss and our sorrow".
He said: "My father for I suppose the last 70 years has given the most remarkable, devoted service to the Queen, to my family and to the country and also to the whole of the Commonwealth.
"And, as you can imagine, my family and I miss my father enormously.
"He was a much loved and appreciated figure and apart from anything else I can imagine he'd be so deeply touched by the number of other people here and elsewhere around the world in the Commonwealth who also I think share our loss and our sorrow.

"And my dear Papa was a very special person who I think above all else would have been amazed by the reaction and the touching things being said about him.
"And from that point of view, we are - my family - deeply grateful for all that.
"It will sustain us in this particular loss and at this particularly sad time."
One of the ideas suggested to celebrate the Duke’s life was the introduction of a national holiday.
An exclusive Express.co.uk poll has found almost two thirds of readers would back calls for the nation to honour Prince Philip with an extra day off.
