Prince Harry and William have 'a long way to go' to mend feud after 'utter betrayal'

Kate Middleton 'heartbroken' by Harry and William rift says expert

Royal author Duncan Larcombe, who penned a biography on the Duke of Sussex, claimed William saw Harry and Meghan Markle's Oprah Winfrey interview as an "utter betrayal". Mr Larcombe added that the brothers are "finally speaking again" following Prince Philip's funeral after "a year of blanking each other".

Harry returned to Britain for the first time since Megxit and the TV interview for the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral last month.

The warring brothers - whose bond once appeared unbreakable - were spotted chatting after the service, sparking speculation they could end their rift.

But Mr Larcombe warned there is "still a long way to go" to repair their relationship.

Writing in his Woman and Home column, the royal expert said: "After a year of blanking each other, the boys are finally speaking again in the wake of their grandfather's funeral.

"According to sources, they even managed a heart-to-heart before the prodigal prince flew home to the US.

"One senior Palace source told me that a great deal of water has yet to pass under the proverbial bridge before the rift is fully healed.

"They said the sight of the brothers chatting at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral was the start of a far longer conversation they had that day, more of a heart-to-heart.

"This has certainly raised hopes [that] the deadlock between William and Harry can be fixed, but there is still a long way to go.

"William regards Harry and Meghan's Oprah interview as an utter betrayal, and feelings remain strong among other members of the family.

"[But] the Duke's funeral has reminded Harry of how much he stands to lose if he remains at loggerheads with the [people] who love him."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who quit royal duties last year, made a set of bombshell claims about the monarchy in the tell-all interview, which aired in March.

Harry even claimed William, who is second in line to the throne, was trapped in the Royal Family along with his father Prince Charles.

He also laid bare his rift with his older brother as he poured his heart out to the US talk show host.

The row between the siblings is said to date back to the early days of Harry's romance with Meghan.

According to the Finding Freedom book, Harry was angered by what he saw as William's "snobbish" attitude when he urged his younger brother not to rush the relationship.

Harry and Meghan plunged the Royal Family into crisis with their Megxit decision, which saw them quit royal duties in March 2020.

The Sussexes, who are expecting their second child, are now living in California with their young son Archie.

Their new careers across the pond including lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify to make shows and podcasts.
