It's the first time in four weeks that Brits have been able to do their Christmas shopping in person - and the sudden burst of activity has been dubbed "Wild Wednesday."

Keen shoppers lined the streets and queued for Primark in Birmingham at 7am, marking the first day out of the national lockdown.

And in London, avid shoppers did the same, eager to stock up on bargains at the Oxford Street store.

Many happy shoppers later shared their massive hauls on Facebook, excited to have made it out alive.

One woman shared a snap of her car boot which was filled with two massive bags after a very successful shop in Primark today.

Posting in Primark Haul Facebook group, she wrote: "So how much did everyone spend this morning."

And joked: "And now I'm officially broke."

Elsewhere, one lucky shopper admitted there were no queues at all at the Camberley store, but said it did get pretty busy while she was picking up some things.

Showing off her impressive haul, she wrote: "Very disappointed no nail varnish but did get a nice bagful."

Luckily, she did, and was able to pick up a selection of fluffy blankets and cute pyjamas as well as some festive decorations.

Meanwhile, ex-Primark employee reveals the store’s top secrets – including how to find out what will be in the Christmas sale.
