The Premier League has confirmed the 2020/21 season will begin on August 8.

The current campaign began on Friday August 9 so the 2020/21 start date remains in keeping with the general trend.

England's top-flight will be entering it's 29th season.

With the European Championships underway this summer, some players could have less than a month between the competition's final on July 12 and the start of the new Premier League term.

Premier League clubs to vote on transfer window change amid Brexit

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League and are 22 points clear at the top of the table.

At the bottom end, the relegation battle looks as tight as ever with only three points separating second-bottom Watford and 15th-place Brighton.

Similarly, in the race for Champions League football, Wolves, Manchester United, Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur all have a realistic chance of catching Chelsea, who occupy fourth spot.
