Covid infections have dropped by a third on Wirral.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, the peninsula recorded 1,114 infections in the week ending July 24 - 585 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 34%

Infections fell everywhere in the Liverpool City Region. The week on week percentage change decreased by 31% in Knowsley, by 30% in Sefton, and by 27% in Liverpool.

Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester, and West Lancs all recorded weekly decreases in infections.

Across England overall, infections have dropped. In the week ending July 24, England recorded 197,770 coronavirus cases, which is 106,594 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,853 cases in the week ending July 24, which is 667 fewer cases than in the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 27%.

The latest infection rate was 372.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Sefton

In Sefton, there were 938 cases in the week ending July 24, 405 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 30%.

The latest infection rate was 339.4 per 100,000 people.

Wirral

There were 1,114 positive tests in the week ending July 24, which is 585 fewer cases than in the previous week. Wirral 's week-on-week percentage change decreased by 34%. The latest infection rate was 343.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 420 positive tests over the last week, which is 175 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 29% in the week ending July 24. The latest infection rate is 324.5 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There were 723 positive tests in the week ending July 24, which is 296 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate was 400.4 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change in St Helens decreased by 29%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 563 cases in the week ending July 24, which is 257 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 373.2 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases decreased by 31% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 5,611 positive tests over in the week ending July 24, which is 2,385 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 30%. The latest infection rate is 329.53 cases per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 429 coronavirus cases in the week ending July 24, which is 227 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was an infection rate of 375.31 per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage decrease of 35% in infections.

Warrington

There were 829 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 24, which is 591 fewer cases than the previous week.

The week on week percentage figure decreased by 42%. There was an infection rate of 394.74 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 1,036 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 24, which is 718 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 301.98 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage decrease of 41% in cases.

England

In England in the week ending July 24, there was an infection rate of 351.36 per 100,000 people.

The nation recorded 197,770 coronavirus cases, which is 106,594 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week on week percentage decrease of 35% in cases.
