Manchester City will face Porto in the Champions League tonight.

Although City have already sailed through into the knock-out stages, Pep Guardiola is taking no chances and has taken a strong squad to Portugal to ensure his side secure top spot.

Tommy Doyle is the only academy player to make the trip, with the Blues looking to maintain their 100 per cent record and to gain some momentum after a series of inconsistent results in the Premier League.

Nathan Ake has also been included in the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury but Sergio Aguero will remain in Manchester after missing the weekend's 5-0 thrashing of Burnley due to a knee complaint.

The club are not overly concerned by his absence but want the striker to feel right before returning rather than rushing back and risking another setback - as happened last month.

City squad: Ederson, Steffen, Carson, Walker, Cancelo, Dias, Stones, Ake, Laporte, Garcia, Mendy, Zinchenko, Gundogan, Rodri, Bernardo, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Doyle, Mahrez, Foden, Torres, Sterling, Jesus.

Man City matchday squad vs FC Porto revealed

Nathan Ake will make his first appearance in a Manchester City squad since before the international break on Tuesday night.

The former Bournemouth defender is part of the 23-man group aiming to secure top spot in their Champions League group. City have already qualified, but Pep Guardiola is determined that his players maintain their standard and has not left anyone at home to rest despite acknowledging the Premier League is a priority.

Sergio Aguero will remain in Manchester after feeling some discomfort in the knee that kept him sidelined for five months earlier this year. The Blues are not overly concerned by his absence but want the striker to feel right before returning rather than rushing back and risking another setback - as happened last month.
