A primary school, bus stops and businesses were trashed with graffiti in Motherwell last night.
The ‘Green Brigade’ and ‘UC’ tagging appeared on the walls just yards from Motherwell Football Club’s ground, where the Fir Park side will host Celtic tonight.
The wall of Knowetop Primary, which lies just yards away from the ground at Fir Park, was sprayed with ‘Green Brigade’ and ‘UC’.
And ‘Green Brigade’ has also been sprayed on the adjacent wall to the primary school, at a derelict site.
The former Lookers Nissan garage, which currently lies empty, has also been covered in the paint.
And shutters of nearby businesses have also been targeted.
A number of bus stops and electricity boxes throughout the town have been covered with the `UC’ tag.
A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: “We are aware of the graffiti and this incident has been reported to Police Scotland, who are investigating.
“Our graffiti removal team has also been contacted and will clean the area as soon as possible.”
Sergeant Lorna Hinshelwood said: “The graffiti has been painted onto the old Taggarts garage premises and a number of other walls and garage doors across the town, including Knowetop Primary School.
“Enquiries are at an early stage and we are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us trace those responsible.”
Anyone who may have any information which might help in this investigation is asked to call police at Motherwell on 101, quoting the reference number 0719 5 February 2020.
